1.正しい使い方

“According to は「によって、によれば、に従って」の訳語ですが、以下の場合にしか使用できません。”
〜と合致して：in keeping with, in agreement with
〜で表明された通りに：as stated by, on the authority of
〜で定義された通りに：in the manner determined by

2.誤った用法と本来の表現方法

日本語の感覚では「生理学的な研究から得られた知見によれば」ですが、バケット先生の定義には準じていませんから、書き換えが必要のようです。

（×）According to our knowledge from physiological studies, activity levels of real neural systems are believed to be low.
（○）From the results of physiological studies, activity levels of real neural systems are believed to be low.
（○）Physiological studies indicate that activity levels of real neural systems are low.

「…に応じた」という日本語の場合も、以下のような置き換えを示しています。
（×）There are four equations according to four degrees of freedom.
（○）There are four equations, corresponding to the four degrees of freedom.

リバイズの時のコメントの回答でページ番号と行番号はどちらを先に書いていらっしゃいますか？

正しくはOn page xx (ページ番号), line yy (行番号)です。
数行になるときは、lines xx to yyとなります。

リバイズの時のコメントの回答で、全ての項目に“Thank you for your suggestion(comment).” と書いていらっしゃる先生が多くいらっしゃいます。
丁寧に回答したい気持ちはわかりますが、感謝の言葉が続くと逆効果です。
Thank you for pointing this out. と書いてリズムを変えることもできまし、
We agree with you.　としたり、あるいは単純に、We have added…とかAs suggested..の文章で書き始めても、失礼にはあたりません。
